Kathleen Hollett
I've always had an eye for oil painting so I started an evening art class ten years ago at the Cabell County Career Technology Center to hone in on my painting skills. Under the direction of Andhi Surya, I've developed my oil painting technique using painters' knives. I love painting with knives, wet on wet, and the impressionistic effect of my oil paintings.

For the past several years I've also been working with pastels and finding it to be a nice distraction from my main love of oil painting. In September 2006 my pastel, "Kitchen Garden" was accepted into the Sixth Guild Competition where it will be displayed at the Parkersburg Art Center, Wheeling Artisan Center, and Museum in the Community. Also in September 2006, I was involved in the 34th Annual Hocking Hills Artists Fall Show in Logan, OH and the Taste of Charleston Art Fair.

Since July 2005 I've devoted my career as a full-time professional artist. My artwork is currently displayed at Classic Interiors, 611 Fourteenth Street West in Huntington and at the Ironton Art Association Gallery at M&M Realty Building, 703 Park Avenue. I will participate in the Annual Art-in-the-Park June 16 & 17, 2007 at Huntington's Ritter Park and will also be involved in the Visual Arts of FestivALL at the Clay Center, Charleston, WV on June 23 & 24, 2007. I will have a booth at the Americana Festival in Centerville, OH on July 4, 2007.

I am President of the Tri-State Arts Association in Huntington, WV. I'm also the Membership Chairman on the Board of Directors of the Tri-State Art Association. I'm a member of the Allied Artists in Charleston, WV and a member of the Ironton Artists Association in Ironton, OH.

In May of 2006 I completed a plein air workshop with William Scott Jennings in Sedona, AZ. Mr. Jennings is a Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. I received a grant from the Ohio River Borders Initiative Program to attend this art training.

In August 2004 and 2002 I had oil paintings accepted at the Huntington Museum of Art during a juried show for the Tri-State Arts Association. Since 2001, I have displayed artwork at the annual July Art Walk in Lancaster, Ohio.

I have also displayed artistry and won several awards through competitive art exhibitions at the Cardinal Valley Art Gallery Show, Kentucky Art Guild Show, the Grayson Kentucky Art Show, the Greenbo Kentucky Art Show, the Moorehead Kentucky Arts Show, the Ironton, Ohio Art Show and the Carter Caves Art Show.
